Skin rash is a generalised term
used before a proper diagnosis is given by the medical/health
professional. It is an unusual or
"abnormal" skin appearance featured by redness, irritation
and/or itching. Other characters can be a little red dots or
bumps, blisters. They are often caused by one or a combination of
the following:
1. contact with certain substance
(such as chemicals or detergents) that induced a contact allergic reaction. This can include
contact dermatitis or eczema (general term).
2. insect bites or reactions to
certain plant substance
3. bacterial or fungal infection
caused by skin irritation, scratching or secretion such as pus
or clear fluid
4. whole body's allergic reactions
to certain foods, temperature or certain trigger. This can be
hives or, also known as urticaria.
Causes of skin Rashes:
Causes of skin rashes from the body can involve a chemical known
as histamine. It often associates with hay fever and allergies
reactions. This type of reaction is also often a systemic (whole
body) reaction. Whole body rashes can involve factors such as
foods, alcohol, medication or stress.
Localised skin rashes are often
initiated by contact. Some localised rashes can also be caused
by factors such as diet, alcohol and stress. Secondary infection
can be part of the skin rashes if there are scratching and
hygiene practise is compromised. This is especially common in
kids and children.
Conventional Medical Treatment:
Current conventional treatment for symptomatic relief of skin
rashes often contain chemical
substance of steroid or cortisone origin. It often suppress the
inflammatory reactions, however, it does not treat the cause.
The rashes often come back when the cream treatment is stopped.
Perspectives from Acupuncture &
Chinese Medicine: For simple localised skin rashes, topical
treatment with a cream, such as AromaHeal cream can be used to
treat the condition locally.
Skin rashes that involve the whole
body, often indicate that the rashes are caused by internal body
reactions. From Chinese medicine and acupuncture point of view,
oral treatment of Chinese herbal medicine or acupuncture is
highly recommended to correct internal imbalances that trigger
the skin rashes. For more information, please contact Wonder
